Gum Line Defects, Tooth Decay Linked To Receding Gums

The destruction of tooth enamel is called tooth decay.  And it is due to cavities or tooth decay that receding gums occur making one permanent tooth to fall out.   Defects in the gum line occurs because of gum erosion which exposes the upper portion of the tooth, making it sensitive to substances that are being taken in by individuals.  We all know that receding gums is caused by toothbrush abrasion and the consumption of acidic foods and drinks.  In this case, the teeth lose their protective covering or coat on the crown.  And when that portion is already exposed,  it becomes susceptible to decay.  Dental filling is needed to cover up the exposed portion of the teeth.
