Control The Factors That Causes Gum Infection

Periodontal disease is known to be a chronic gum infection that slowly attacks and destroys he gums and the bones that supports the teeth. The best thing that can be done when someone has periodontal disease is to work at controlling the factors which will bring on the full disease process. At each hygiene appointment, periodontal screenings are performed. To painlessly measure the depth of the periodontal pocket, a periodontal probe is used. With very little pressure the probe is slipped down next to the root of the tooth until there is resistance. The mark which is then at the gum line demonstrates the depth of the gum pocket. Remember that a healthy gum do not bleed and do not have periodontal pockets. Take care of oral and dental health by having a good program of oral hygiene.
